I first met Dr Stevens on July 14, 2008, in the emergency room after my auto accident. He was called in to assess my neck injuries, which were a C4 fracture, a C5 compression fracture and a tear inside the neck artery.
Strapped to a back board and in a cervical collar placed by the crash site EMT’s, I was feeling powerless and overwhelmed. I truly appreciated Dr. Stevens’s organized, direct and yet exceptionally compassionate approach. It was very calming and I easily placed my trust in his care.
I came to respect his thoughtful opinions and looked forward to his visits during my hospital stay. He kept me highly informed and brought in good consulting MD’s to handle the other medical issues.

I met Dr. Stevens four years ago when he was a neurosurgery resident on a medical mission trip to Liberia. I sustained an injury about 20 years ago whilst working on high -powered electric cables. Because of my injuries, both my arms were amputated. Since then, I suffered tremendous amount of pain in my arms, legs, neck and back.
Dr. Stevens helped facilitate my travel from Liberia for me to receive a spinal cord stimulator. The donations from the hospital and product manufacturer was in excess of $50,000. Since my surgery, my pain has decreased over 70%.
He is a true friend and a great surgeon. I am forever indebted to him for his kindness.
